diddi dance Partners with Macmillan Cancer Support

June 8, 2015 by Helena Rigby

diddi dancers across the UK Dress Up and Dance to battle Cancer

We want all our diddi dancers to put on their dancing shoes this June as our classes have partner up with Macmillan Cancer Support to get little ones moving and grooving in aid of the charity’s Dress Up And Dance campaign.

didi dance - dress up 6

The national campaign is a perfect fit for us and we hope it will see parents & children don colourful, creative and whacky fancy dress to attend our classes all next week. To celebrate this year’s theme of ‘legends’, we will continue with our specially themed rock and roll classes encouraging families across the UK to show their best dance moves and rock out in their favourite costumes.

Founder of diddi dance, Anne-Marie Martin commented:

We are so proud and excited to be involved in Macmillan’s fantastic Dress Up And Dance campaign, it is a natural fit with our weekly dance classes and dressing up is something that we know all our little ones and families will thoroughly enjoy.

Macmillan is a charity that is especially close to our hearts and resonates with the whole diddi dance team as one of our very close colleagues was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. The work of the charity to support everyone affected by cancer is truly remarkable and we hope that the money we raise next week helps Macmillan to continue their worthwhile and essential work to support those affected by cancer.

From Saturday 13 to Friday 19 June, diddi dance classes across the UK will be taking part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s Dress Up and Dance campaign. All we ask in return is a small donation for this wonderful charity. To find your local diddi dance class just click here.

diddi dance nominated for What’s On 4 Awards!

March 23, 2015 by Helena Rigby

We couldn’t be happier at diddi dance that our customers enjoy our classes so much that they have once again nominated us for the What’s On 4 Junior Awards!

JuniorAwards_VoteForUsThe 2015 What’s On 4 Junior Awards celebrate the very best kid’s activity providers in the UK, Ireland and Australia. These major awards have been rewarding the very best activity providers, classes, places to go and people for 9 years now in the UK but they couldn’t do it without the votes and nominations from YOU – the experts!

diddi dance is once again nominated this year for:
Best National Pre-schooler Development Activity (2 to 5 years)

On top of that some of our franchisees and teachers have also been acknowledged for their hard-work and dedication to their classes and have been nominated as well.

Most Outstanding Activity Leader for the Under 5s – SOUTH

  • Caroline Steele –Wiltshire
  • Joanna Oastler – East Sussex
  • Lousie Martin – SE Hampshire
  • Rebecca Duschl – London

Most Outstanding Activity Leader for the Under 5s – EAST

  • Hannah Speery – Leicestershire
  • Nicola Rogers – Leicestershire

We asked some of the nominees who are also franchisees how they felt about being recognised:

“Wow it feels fantastic to have received enough nominations to be through to the voting stages. The What’s On 4 Awards are very highly regarded with parents, so we’re really pleased.” – diddi dance Founder, Anne-Marie

“I was over the moon to hear I had made it through to the next stage of the What’s On 4 Awards. To feel valued by our lovely diddi dance parents makes it totally worthwhile.
I’m also very proud of my teacher Hannah making it through, as well, and thank her for her commitment and hard work.
To make the finals would be a fantastic achievement. ” – Nicola

“I am absolutely thrilled to be nominated for the ‘most outstanding activity award leader-South’. I have only been running since September and absolutely LOVE teaching diddi dance and seeing my children have fun and grow in confidence. I have met some great families and feel honoured to have received so much positive feedback and support so early on in my diddi dance career.” – Caroline

“I love being part of the diddi dance team. Knowing that the parents and grandparents who bring their children to class believe we deserve the recognition by nominating diddi dance as best national preschool class is the icing on the cake – being nominated myself as best preschool leader in the south is the cherry on the top! Thank you, thank you!” – Louise

“I am thrilled to have been nominated again this year as it’s a true validation of what we do at diddi dance. The fact that others enjoy our classes enough that they have taken the time to nominate us let’s me know it’s not just me having all the fun in class! These awards are voted for by parents and parents only want the best for their little one, so a nomination like this is such a privilege and an honour.” – Joanna

As you can read we all could not be happier to have such satisfied and supportive customers who reward us in such a fashion. For more information about the awards or if you would like to vote for diddi dance or any one of our activity leaders please go to: http://www.whatson4littleones.co.uk/award-voting.asp. diddi dance at Move It and The Baby Show

February 27, 2015 by Helena Rigby

diddi dance just spent the last two weekends exhibiting at Move It and The Baby Show, Excel. We had so much fun we wanted to tell you all about it!

Move It is one of the UK’s biggest dance events, with over 24,000 dancers attending over three days with performances, classes, advice and shopping all available to them. We at diddi dance have been going along for the past 3 years to help get the brand seen and known more in the world of dance. This year Move It celebrated its 10th year going, and we could not have been happier to be apart of the experience this year.

Founder, Anne-Marie, really enjoys going to Move It as it is a chance for her to see old students who have gone on to do great things in the dance world and meet tons of new people, including celebrities, in the dance world and tell them all about how great diddi dance is.

If you are interested interested in going along to Move It in 2016 and seeing us there just click here for more information.

At the Baby Show this past weekend we met some amazing people, not just on our stand but also at the Activity Zone where we held free sessions twice a day to show those who attended what we were all about, while giving their toddlers a chance to have some fun of their own while the grown-ups could rest their feet 😉

While there we met some amazing people. First we met a great dad, Al B-c1jAHIYAAfH8PFerguson, who runs the blog The Dad Network. His son Teddy, who mind you is only about 7 months old, came along to almost all our diddi dance sessions we ran on the Activity Zone while at Excel. His favourite part was the hula hoop, which luckily we had a size perfect for him to use. We also had Sofia tumblr_inline_nk7thpFUuC1rjs63nGouveia come along with her daughter Suri at the end of the day to let her enjoy the bubbles.

Lastly, Laura from Mummy’s Zone came along with her son, Oscar. She had some great things to say about diddi dance: “Oscar loved it dancing with hoops, ribbons and pom poms.blogger-image--369788190 The classes looked great and they have them all over the country, I know Oscar would love to go along.” All these parents took the time to mention us on their blogs so please have a read of each. B-SzOqFIIAASfk8

Laura and Oscar also came along with Kelly Finn from More Than Just a Mummy who brought her daughter Tia who loved diddi dance and mum Kelly took some great photos of us in action too!

Thanks again to you all for taking the time to see what we do and mention us to others 🙂

We at diddi dance go along to all three Baby Show so if you are interested in attending one of the future shows and having fun with us on the Activity Zone click here for more information on all the shows over the next year.

 ***

While at Excel, Anne-Marie also had the time to stop by The Franchise Show and give a talk about buying a children’s franchise and why it might be right for you, on behalf of EWIF. This was just one of many great talks given at the show by EWIF members over the weekend. If you are looking for some advice on your business or buying into one then EWIF is a great place to start.

Visit their site today for more information or attend a local meeting if you can.

diddi dance and the importance of socialisation in children

February 19, 2015 by Helena Rigby

A new report reveals that 72% of parents are unaware that confidence development begins before the age of 5, Anne-Marie Martin, Founder of diddi dance, is urging parents to take action and help develop their child’s confidence from a young age.

The figures out today show that parents are confused about the age at which their children should begin building up their confidence through socialisation. The Government’s standards set for the early year’s foundation stage state that from birth to the age of 5, a child’s development through socialisation is vital for them to fulfil their potential in later life.

This comes as a new study of 2,000 UK parents, commissioned this month by diddi dance has clarified who parents believe has the responsibility of ensuring their children socialise enough. Worryingly 4 in 10 parents (38%) do not feel it is their responsibility to ensure their child is socialising the appropriate amount, with a third feeling it is down to nurseries, and a quarter believing that pre-school programmes should hold the responsibility.

Furthermore, the survey revealed that 4 in 10 parents still underestimate the positive impact that comes from the company of other young children for those under 5.

The importance of children socialising amongst adults seems to have been misjudged, as well, as 65% do not feel that this time spent with adults is as important as the amount of time their child socialises with other children, despite 43% acknowledging that children socialising with adults is important to their mental development. Fathers in particular are less aware of the positive impact that children socialising with adults can have with only 28% of fathers believed this to be the case, compared to 43% of mothers.

Anne-Marie Martin, is urging parents to take action against this misconception and encourage socialisation of children much earlier. Commenting on the findings Anne-Marie said “One of the key points of Ofsted’s readiness for schools provision for the under 5s is socialisation. It is key to gaining an understanding of key concepts such as personal space, sharing and empathising with others which will help make starting school a smoother transition.

She continued “Finding an interactive session which socialises children with other children is extremely important and if they really enjoy the session, they will immediately feel comfortable and warm to the environment a lot quicker. diddi dance combines lots of fun with physical activity and is a great way for little ones to interact with other children, boosting their confidence and preparing them for school where they will be faced with an unfamiliar environment away from their parents.”

diddi dance classes can be enjoyed by both boys and girls from the age of 18 months to 5 across the UK. With a new dance style every half term from ballroom to hip-hop through to jive and Bollywood every child’s taste is catered for and with fun props to use too children leave the 45 minute classes full of energy and excited for the next week. Designed to keep children active, increase their confidence and enhance their co-ordination and rhythm diddi dance is fast becoming a household name.
